The Propeller-Washed Bead Filter contains a filtration bed of floating plastic beads designed to facilitate both solids capture and biofiltration simultaneously. Water from the aquatic system enters the filter through an intake manifold and passes upward through the bead bed where the physical and biological purification process occurs.
The Propeller-Washed Bead Filter offers an ingenious and effective method of backwashing the filter. While the water flow is interrupted or bypassed, high speed embedded propellers agitate and expand the bead media in a blender-like fashion. This process releases captured solids and debris from the bead bed. Waste matter settles into the internal settling cone of the filter where it is removed in a concentrated form. |
